Port Security Training

Resolve Training has delivered Department for Transport accredited training for Port Facility Security Officers since 2014, with excellent feedback.   This three day Course covers all aspects of the PFSO role and gives operational insight from our PFSO experienced trainer.  Mandatory PFSO Refresher training for experienced PFSO's is now required every 5 years and we are accredited to deliver this interactive, one day course.

With our experience in Port Security, we are ideally placed to provide training and guidance to all Port staff.

This course will take delegates through all the competencies required of a PFSO or Deputy (now required by DfT) and prepare them for the role in any Facility in the UK.  The course incorporates interactive exercises and participation, which prepares delegates for the end of course examination.   Competencies covered include -

• Develop, maintain and supervise the implementation of a Port Facility Security Plan

• Assess security risk, threat, and vulnerability

• Undertake periodic inspections of the port facility to ensure appropriate security measures are implemented and maintained

• Ensure that the security equipment and systems of the port facility, if any, are properly operated, tested and calibrated

• Encourage security awareness and vigilance.

PFSO Refresher

PFSO refresher training is now mandatory for PFSO's as of July 2022.

We are delighted to confirm Resolve Training has been accredited to provide a one day, interactive PFSO Refresher course.  These are now available and we expect an initial high demand, as as those who have been trained more than 5 years ago will require to attend for compliance.

ISPS Training for Port staff

It is a requirement of the ISPS Code that all Port Facility staff have received training in security and the threats to Ports.  We are able to provide Security staff and all other Port staff with training that will ensure your facility remains compliant with all UK Regulations and in accordance with your Security Plan. 

Our Courses will be conducted by an accredited trainer at your site to minimise staff abstraction and expenses.  All Courses will be adapted to your Facility in line with your security procedures.  Training for security staff is a 1 Day course covering all aspects of the ISPS Code, specific responsibilities and duties.  The new Security Instructions require refresher training within 18 months and this is an area that will be audited by DfT.

All other staff can attend an ISPS Awareness session which lasts a half day and provides them with a clear understanding of the Code and their responsibilities.

Port Security Awareness On-Line Module

In addition to face to face training we have developed an online training course that can be used by any Port staff to give an awareness of Port Security to meet the requirements of the ISPS code.  The course takes about 30 minutes to complete with a certificate at the end to show competency.  This is ideal for induction for all Port staff or contractors and can be used an annual Refresher.

At a time of increased inspection and risk, this provides an ideal format to demonstrate you are meeting training requirements and engage all staff in Port security.
